Street Teamer David gives us a response to reports that suggest Circumcision reduces the risk of contracting HIV.

When I first read about Circumcision being a way in which a man could reduce the chances of getting HIV, I wasn’t sure what to think. Although my first thought was “Great! Let’s go and get circumcised then…” when I sat down to think about it however, it made me wonder if it is a necessary answer to the problem

There are a few reasons for this which I will explain now ... continue

  1. Unfortunately some of us never had a choice... The chop happened as we happened

  2. mhh, whats a gal to say here?? ;-)

  3. @seilatsatsi: chop! chop!

    what would a gal prefer?

  4. is there a difference between chopped penis or not.*assuming you as a girl you've had both [i know thats not the topic, but im just saying] *answer - dont answer???

  5. chopped or unchopped dont really matter when it comes to some activities but when unchoped certain activities on it are less of a hassle due to the ease of movement provided by the skin. personally i prefer it unchoped, its easier to work with, lol.

  6. LOL!

  7. From what I have heard chopped gives more body and unchopped gives more sensation.... But either way, objectives are similar, how we get there is of no importance, no?

Circumcision is a dangerous distraction in the fight against AIDS. There are six African countries where men are more likely to be HIV+ if they've been circumcised: Cameroon, Ghana, Lesotho, Malawi, Rwanda, and Swaziland. Eg in Malawi, the HIV rate is 13.2% among circumcised men, but only 9.5% among intact men. In Rwanda, the HIV rate is 3.5% among circumcised men, but only 2.1% among intact men. If circumcision really worked against AIDS, this just wouldn't happen. We now have people calling circumcision a "vaccine" or "invisible condom", and viewing circumcision as an alternative to condoms.

The one study into male-to-female transmission showed a 50% higher rate in the group where the men had been circumcised btw.

ABC (Abstinence, Being faithful, Condoms) is the way forward. Promoting genital surgery will cost African lives, not save them.

  9. @Mark - i hear you, being Circumcised doesn't mean that one can have sex without a condom. Im sure in those countries "Circumcision" is used as an excuse for not using a condom and all of that. Now if one finds themselves in a situation where a condom breaks and they are Circumcised - this is where i think the 60% part should kick in.

Condoms do break and they are not 100 percent safe
