The 31st Annual Loerie Awards Festival Weekend kicked off on Friday 25 September 2009. The Friday Awards Ceremony was hosted by Ads24. The brand communication industry flocked to the Loeries Village in Cape Town to mark this annual celebration of creative excellence. A total of 130 Awards were handed out at the Friday night ceremony, two of which were Grands Prix, 11 of which were Gold Awards and four of which were Craft Golds.

Agency rankings
This year, The Loerie Awards are using the new Creative Circle ranking system based on the number of statues won. Using this ranking system, FOXP2 came out at the top of the list for Friday evening, TBWAHuntLascaris came out second, The Jupiter Drawing Room (South Africa) came out third, Saatchi & Saatchi were fourth and Ogilvy took fifth place. A full list of the winning individual agencies and groups for Friday night appears at the end of this release.

    For advertisers those charts are bad. I was expecting to see the 'adverts' that won and not the names of agencies.

    can't get over that name - foxP2 - bludie ingenius to name your agency after the gene that lends itself to communication...

    on the flip tho it seems hunt's is making a comeback...seemingly the drought is over for the once dubbed mount everest of advertsing in SA...(their grand prix for the Zimbabwean campaign was brilliant)
