There is an uproar world wide right now - I don’t think its much of a of painting Lara Stone [she is white painted black] black as much as which publication is doing it. Im sure this has been done before - but because Vogue is doing it ... that I have a problem with - especially when they have a long history of not supporting black models or celebrities for their magazine publictly.

and this? http://studio83.co.za/news/2009/08/31/1185
that's an over reactive George.
it's not the race of the model that matters but the message being conveyed --- white pple might as well complain when 'black' models (Beyoncé + Halle Berry come to mind) are made to look white.
I am assuming they painted a girl black, the colour, not the race.
i had a good come back at you - but dont have the energy right now
come backs are useless.
engaging in discourse is preferred. this is not an argument, but a discussion.
i was too lazy to look up that article that said that the original Vogue [i think the french] refused to put black people on their covers because they are inferior - back in the days ... yah, now they do put black people on the cover which is cool [not that i care much]. And also remember theres alot of Vogue franchise magazines out there [ie American edition etc]
thats why the was alot of uproar about it ... the idea is not bad at all, its who is doing it that the rest of the world has a problem with.
