Growth is inevatable ...

I think s83 needs to be handed out to the young creative’s out there, I think im getting old for my own liking ... because im getting interesting in other thing like Marvin and the running of all Creative Lifestyle magazine more than just one or two magazines and what out there.

And im sure there’s someone out there who has a fresher eye than I do and who can spell better than i can ... now what ideas do you guys have for the future of s83 ... what is it that you wanna see?

When you say 'handed to' what do you mean?

ahhh why do I feel like a kid whose parents are getting divorced?

  2. I mean i wont be running the show as much i do now ... i think il be more guiding the young one more than me being int the front row ... its for growth

Ok well in that case you need to get someone who you believe in fully, who wants nothing more than to do this.

I would like to see more Mens Fashion on the mag...

1st who's Marvin? me i would like to see more South African stuff (design, architecture, fashion, magazine covers etc) besides that i think S83 is moving in the right direction. on another note did you see the new Complex covers?

  5. a mixture of international and homegrown designs would be taking it to the next level.
eg. i went to the design indaba the other day, and i saw a section named emerging creatives, i thought it was absolutely brilliant -- it encompassed all aspects of designs, from simple graphic designs, illustrations, T-shirts, and a whole lot more -- check it out on the design indaba site, perhaps u'll understand what im trying to convey.

I think mzantsi is generating a whole lots of buzz on the international scene, and soon it will be the focal point of great designs world wide. mark my word.

okay, to cut a long story short -- more of local designs with an international appeal. that's what I (speaking for myself) would like to see habitually on S_83.

  6. @Mosa - Yes, im actually about to post that ... but with Marvin coming through that should be sorted out type thing ...

@ Bugzy - Marvin is a friend of mine. Yeah i agree with you on themopre South Africa stuff, because i cant on my own [including Lebogang, YY [we hope he comes back], Khumbelo and Writer Chick] to know everything ... i also think that it would be interesting to be able to open s83 blog to more people so that we discover more (design, architecture, fashion, magazine covers etc) ... in SA

another thing alot of stuff in SA [magazines and celebrities mostly have low res images for the online] and its hard for to post a bad image on this blog.

@lilji25 - True ... i think opening for more people will do that it will be more like http://75.co.za - maybe one post for each person for the day to keep it contained and see how it goes then as time goes by people can invite other creatives, no?

yeah that would be good and maybe we can find and post more south african stuff.

  8. *what hattip?

    *smh

Yeah, I am down for local content — although I'll have you know that 'creatives' are barely recognized as professionals, what that generally implies is there isn't so many of us out-here trying to push (or rip open) that proverbial envelop — and thus, less quality product is produced.

But, I do know that cape/town is blazing some other-(hashi)-ish. If my move to stay in cape/town pens out — then I'm sure I'll tap into that collective.

Alas, here are my thoughts on what could be:

    1. better spelling and grammar. (it is a publication no? 98% of people who are in this publishing industry that I know, stop coming to S83 because of spelling and grammar)

    2. more critical analysis of what is being posted — it's nice and dandy for the 'author' to say: i love these tees, my question is always why? what makes them 'loveable': typography, colour, theme, emotion — I might be speaking for somebody who is a educator, but I place no value in anything that is not substantiated.

    3. a redesign of the site — yes, I used to love this design, at the time of going to 'print' it was awesome, but I see so many things wront that I might just have to remove my companies name (bottom-centre) from it … with that redesign I was thinking of handing over the reigns to anybody who is keen — the catch is, this is not a static site, so you'll have to be able to design with a complete understanding of navigation flow, states, site map — essentially you have to be good and understanding interactive media.

    4. I think before the redesign — we should decide what more we need to add — I don't agree with the 75 format: photography and design/creative life are different — alas, more 'authors'/contributors would be good, no doubt — but that means the design will have to change to accommodate 20+ posts per day.

    5. I do think there should a way to do a 'showcase', where a creatives work is displayed (like a portfolio type thing) on a weekly basis — and allow that work to be critiqued (once again, I am not a fan of peanut galleries).

    *phew — lights up.
