I haven't shared any Nina Simone music - funny that since she's been my favourite artist now for as long as I can remember. I have so many of her albums but still haven't collected the long list of studio albums and live recordings she released (and I probably never will).
I love Nina, mostly because I feel closer to my mom when I hear her but also because I love the kind of music she sang, it meant something - whether it was about life, love, loss, freedom; it had meaning and still does.
This isn't my favourite track (can there be when it comes to Nina), but it always makes me feel like I can feel the sun on my skin brightening up the dark expressions on my face. It was written by George Harrison from The Beatles.
It saddens me that I never got to see her perform live.
