A grand line-up of African stars, including Lira, HHP and Thandiswa Mazwai willl be rocking Newtown during the 2010 FIFA World Cup™.

Among the 21 World Cup-related projects the Department of Arts and Culture is funding, as announced by Minister Lulu Xingwana on 3 June 2010, is the Market Theatre’s music programme during June and July.

Music lovers will catch their best musos at the Bassline, Cappello’s and Niki’s Oasis during the World Cup. The Newtown 2010 Festival has been made possible by a grant of R3,109-million awarded to the Newtown Management District (NMD) by the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund (NLDTF).

Market Theatre SA Music Festival

Concerts start at 8.30pm in the Main Theatre. Tickets cost R200, which includes entrance to The House of the Holy Afro production.
