I have two favourite movies of all time and this one comes at number two - number one is The Usual Suspect. I think I have watched this movie about a dozen times and I don’t get bored of it and also bear in mind that I know the script word for word. When this movie came out I was in collage and this is the movie where the name Gorgeous George comes from and since then - I was known as Gorgeous George - it also didn’t help much that my initials were GG. [I still prefer to be called Gorgeous George than just George]

The biggest reason why I loved this movie it was because there was no love story and no major female roles. When snatch came out there were a lot of movies that had the same story line from here to Calcutta - basically the guy falls in love with girl and one way or the other he has to save this girl and they live happily ever after ... yes those Tom Cruise movies. So you can imagine when I first saw the movie - it refreshing different and very funny I must say. The story line is simple - its all about a huge ass diamond, violent bookmakers, a Russian gangster, incompetent amateur robbers, pikey' (slang for an Irish Gypsy) and supposedly Jewish jewelers fight to track down a priceless stolen huge ass diamond.

This must be the best scenes of the movie - now getting a gate away driver that is fat and takes more than 10 seconds to get out of the front seat is some special. I think the script of this movie was beautifully written - even Brad Pitt is brilliant in this movie - bear in mind i started liking Brad after Fight Club [Always thought he was just a pretty face, not that I consider him pretty - *pauses. Imagine what would happen if you took 8 or 10 criminals of various professions, threw them into a maze, gave one of the criminals a diamond the size of a fist, and yelled out load, "SOMEONE IN THIS MAZE HAS A HUGE DIAMOND! WHOEVER FINDS IT AND IS THE LAST MAN STANDING, WINS!" What do you think would happen? Snatch is what happens. - Review
