I'm the darkest within both my siblings, I've never felt any different from all of them or discriminated but that might be because I'm male and suppose to be tall, dark and handsome. This takes me back to my little sister 6th or 7th birthday I bought her a black Barbie — I couldn't bring myself to buy her a white doll knowing that ill contribute towards her insecurities about how she looked. I try to tell he that she is beautiful every time I see her [because she is beautiful in real life].

I've seen this happen in the hood, where some of my friends would date only light skinned girls [it was rear to find a light skinned guy dating a dark skinned girl] — I never paid much attention to it at that time, but now as grown ups we are dealing with the repercussions of those actions. I personally don’t care much about the skin tone as long as she is beautiful [and that's also another topic on its own completely]. This documentary is a bit sad, heart breaking because as black people we are putting each other down for no reason. Now instead of pointing fingers, the question is how do we rectify this problem? We can’t blame white people forever [yes, they have contributed towards this as well]. Slavery/Apartheid/Whatever oppression towards blacks has done more damage than what you can see on the surface - its going to take us a long time to heal and get better as a race. As black people we have a long way to go, a long way - so we rather start now than later, no?

It's amazing how the victim becomes the perpetrator. This is a global problem it has nothing to do with language...I think we need to go back to the reminder that black is beautiful
