This is David Karp. He is 24 years old. He owns (or in the business sense he is chief executive officer of) Tumblr. In the greater scheme of things, Tumblr, might appear minute:
- It has a 80% retention rate — which is 45% better than twitter — that is to say, when people sign up, they are most likely to stay;
- 15,000 new users a day
- 2 million posts day
- 17 million blogs
and, drumroll; snare; high-hat:
- it has over five billion posts (01 May, 2011)
I am not a big fan of Tumblr, but proverbial, to have started Tumblr in 2007 and on the day of launch you manage to get 75 thousand bloggers, not blogs but bloggers, to sign up — at a very young age of 20 is impressive and inspiring.
… and what would we do with idle hands if it wasn't for the, ahem, art on it?
