For the last couple of months, Toronto-based , Indie-singer Abel Tesfaye ( aka The Weeknd) has steadily won a massive following online thanks to his electronic synths, hip-hop references, and totally amazing voice (Rolling Stone even claim he's "an emotionally magnified version of Drake " and dubbed him An Artist To Watch...talk about a compliment!).
He released a nine-track album titled House of Balloons digitally in March through his official website. The album is a part of a trilogy which includes Thursday and Echoes of Silence, to be released in the summer and Autumn respectively. The song "High for This" (my ultimate favourite) is currently featured in the promo for the final season of HBO’s "Entourage." Drake has been partly credited for generating public awareness for The Weeknd, after he quoted a line from the track "Wicked Games" via Twitter and linked to the singer's music on his website.
